Iberian painted pottery aryballos, produced between 300-200 BC. Its painted decoration is based on bands and several horizontal parallel lines in brown-red arranged on the outer surface.
The Iberian potters also produced aryballoi reproducing patterns of aryballoi/ointment jars in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. Presumably, then, these copies must have fulfilled the same functional sense and have also been designed to contain oils or ointments.
This piece comes from the Iberian city of Molí d'Espígol; the context of the find is not known.
