Description
Valencian ceramic dish, in a hemispheric form, decorated with metallic reflections on a white background. On the inner face of the dish, where the food was placed, three fan palm leaves were painted and inscribed in circles. This is an endemic plant in Mediterranean areas. The outside, in contrast, has a simple succession of three lines. Valencian golden products, which were originally inspired by the Islamic objects made in the south of the peninsula, especially in the area of Malaga, were imported in very large numbers in Catalonia during the 15th century. The metallic reflection name derives from the almost iridescent tone the decoration acquired if it had been fired well.
