Description
Fragment of a brass plate stamped with a gallant scene. In this embossed scene a standing lady is holding a bow and arrow. The lady, with long hair, stands in front of a knight kneeling in an attitude of servitude, and is giving him the bow and arrow. The iconography refers to the allegories of courtly love in medieval chivalric literature. The fragment is part of an amatory box, made of wood and covered with brass plates patterned with gallant scenes.
