Coin in the Spanish overseas series, minted in Santa Fe de Bogota, Colombia. Obverse: Shield of Castile and Leon at the top and yoke at the bottom, signs "F" on the left and "S" on the right, both with a point at the top and the bottom. Reverse: footed cross. In the angles of the cross, four pendants. Chance find in the historic site of Olèrdola, but we do not know either the place or the date. A replica is exhibited in the Interpretation Centre of the site. Macuquinas is the name of the gold and silver coins made in Latin America between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, characterized by being minted manually with a hammer, which gives a rough appearance. As they were cut with shears, they have an irregular shape, and are rarely perfectly circular. Colombian macuquinas are scarce, compared with those issued in Peru (Lima and Potosi) and Mexico, where gold was more plentiful.
