Description
The figure represents a small hand-made terracotta wild boar about 9 cm long, which comes from the Iberian rural settlement of Saus (Saus, Camallera and Llampaies, Alt Empordà) and is dated in the fifth century BC. Almost whole, it is only missing the tail and the sexual organs, which must have broken. Zoomorphic terracotta figurines are well known in both pre-Iberian and Iberian and Greek environments. When these types of figures appear in funeral contexts, that is, in burials, they are usually attributed a ritual or symbolic value. This figurine appeared in a domestic context, inside a silo that was reused for waste. We understand that this is a broken or lost toy of the children of the community who lived and worked there.
