Description
The keel and hull panels of the Cala Cativa I ship's hull, where the hull panels are joined by means of a tongue-and-groove. The system used to join the hull of the ship in Roman times is that of the tongue-and-groove joint, of Phoenician-Punic tradition. The planks of the hull were joined by a side notch into which a tongue was inserted, which was fastened to each plank by means of a peg.
