Bacchic Hermes in white marble, possibly of Carrara. Part of the back face is missing, which has simply been smoothed, as well as the nose and the right lateral edge of the piece. It depicts Dionysus-Bacchus at an advanced age. The depiction of the beard gives the figure an archaic appearance. Under a first row of curls, the beard forms a compact block of fine vertical curls. Above it hang the ends of the long mustache. Above the hair, a ribbon or diadem encircles a veil that projects over the forehead and falls over the shoulders, above long stylised braids. Above the head is the end of a large leaf or vine. The piece shows limited use of the trephine.
